On Nabbkullen in Strängnäs, there is a pink building called “The Echo Temple”.
In 1819, the merchant Nils Rydberg built a gazebo in the form of a small Greek temple for his own enjoyment and that of the residents of Strängnäs. He then called the temple Niklasborg. The building was later used, during the mid-1800s and into the early 1900s, as a so-called punch veranda.
In the fall of 1988, the temple burned to the ground, but thanks to measurements taken by the Nordic Museum, it was replaced with an externally faithful replica. In 1992, it received a spartan interior, allowing it to be used as a wedding venue, among other things.
