Explore Sörmland: A Land of Castles, Lakes, and Timeless Charm

Sörmland is located south of the capital city Stockholm, between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea.

Castles and manors give the region much of its character, there are some 400 castles and manor houses, surrounded by parks, treelined avenues and meadows. Most of the manor houses are private homes, while others have become museums. Many have a completely new life as hotels, course centres and topclass restaurants. Concerts, Christmas markets and other events take place a several manors every year.

The landscape with its lakes, archipelago and waterways provides countless opportunities for boat trips, angling, canoeing and other activities, like walking on the 1000 km Sörmlandsleden trail or cycling on the Näckrosleden trail.

A relaxing tour by car through the winding country lanes is an ideal way of discovering a distinctive slice of Sweden’s culture and history. Idyllic small towns like Nyköping, Trosa and Mariefred are perfect for a gentle stroll or for visiting small shops, cafés and restaurants.

Welcome to explore Sörmland!
