Hotell Malmköping

Hotel Malmköping – enjoy food and relaxation among the treetops

Amid the stately pines on Plevnahöjden lies Hotel Malmköping. Nature is literally just outside the window. Inside the hotel, they have chosen to bring in as much of a natural feel as possible. Here you can relax and enjoy fantastic food, in the heart of Sörmland.

If you’re lucky, Malmköping will offer you really beautiful weather when you arrive at the hotel. You check in quickly and smoothly. Then sit down on the patio, amid the scent of sun-warmed pines. With a sparkling glass of Prosecco, or another favorite drink, you get that true holiday feeling right away.

You’ll feel even more relaxed if you choose to take a dip in the jacuzzi, or a sauna in the hotel’s relaxation area. If you want to be a bit more active, there’s also boules and mini-golf.

What Hotel Malmköping may be most appreciated for is the good food.

Our owner, Rolf Lydahl, took over the hotel nine years ago. He has had a very clear vision of what Hotel Malmköping should stand for. This includes that the food should be locally produced and well-prepared. The meat we serve comes from happy cows that have been out in the meadows of Sörmland. We know this because it comes from Lydahl’s own KRAV-certified farm, says Sofia Tinglöf Fredriksson, hotel manager.

In the summer, chefs harvest vegetables and herbs directly from the hotel’s own garden. You can’t get fresher, more locally produced ingredients.

Not only lunch and dinner taste good. At Hotel Malmköping, the day starts with a lovely breakfast.

We receive a lot of praise for our breakfast, says Kajsa Ekstrand, sales and booking manager. We belong to Best Western Hotels and Resorts and therefore offer “Best Breakfast”. The very popular concept includes “Meet the locals” and when we got this to us, we felt that it fits perfectly for us. We’ve long made our own jams, our own muesli, bake our own bread, and, as mentioned, harvest from our own cultivations.

Small Town Charm in the Heart of Sörmland

Malmköping is a small town idyll shaped by its history as a regiment town. There are beautiful environments to stroll around in. The township belongs to Flen municipality, which borders Katrineholm, Eskilstuna, Strängnäs, Gnesta, and Nyköping. It’s just over an hour’s travel to Stockholm. Malmköping truly lies in the heart of Sörmland, close to all the attractions in the region.

Hotel Malmköping is located on Plevnahöjden. The place is named after the city of Plevna in Bulgaria. It was from there that the type of trenches the soldiers in Malmköping dug came. When you walk in the forest around the hotel, you can see banks and ditches that are remnants from the soldiers’ exercises.

– We have the luxury that the Sörmlandsleden trail passes right outside the hotel, and we offer hiking packages. Now during the 2021 Outdoor Year, we want to highlight it a little extra, says Kajsa. In the package, we arrange a taxi to the starting point, and then you hike back to the hotel. You can choose to walk a mile or half a mile. From the hotel, you get a lovely picnic basket. After the hike, it feels especially nice to relax in our spa, take a sauna, or dip in the jacuzzi, and then enjoy a truly delightful dinner in the restaurant.

The hotel staff is happy to suggest more activities.

– Contact us before booking if you want help putting together a good package. All guests have different reasons for coming to us, and we can help book, for example, golf, beer and wine tastings, excursions, and making adjustments to make the stay the best possible.

– We get very good grades for our service, and of course, we are happy about that. We always want to give the guests what they need, sometimes even before they knew it themselves, says Sofia, laughing.

Even though the Corona pandemic has made it a tough year for the entire hotel industry, Hotel Malmköping is optimistic about the future.

Our guests feel safe with the adjustments we have made. Of course, we haven’t been able to have conferences and large parties like we usually do, but individual guests continue to come.

New initiatives have been taken in the restaurant, including extended opening hours.
– We’ve even been able to recruit new staff. We’ve used this period to develop and move forward. Now we look forward to celebrating our 10th anniversary next year, says hotel manager Sofia Tinglöf Fredriksson.
