Sörmland’s Museum

Sörmland’s museum is located in the western harbor of Nyköping, opposite Nyköping Castle. The museum building is a vibrant meeting place with a variety of exhibitions, activities for all ages, and the opportunity to explore the museum’s rich collections.

The museum’s unique “Storytelling Magazine” is situated in the middle of the building and is open for all to see. Through themed tours in the magazines and digital screens outside, visitors can engage with the stories and historical contexts of the artifacts.

The museum’s main exhibitions depict the history of Nyköping from 1850 to today, and in the interactive exhibition “Being a Child,” younger visitors, together with an adult, can explore the world of childhood through the ages in a playful manner.

The museum also houses a shop with a unique assortment highlighting the intangible cultural heritage, as well as a restaurant and café where you can enjoy a good meal.
