Femöre Nature Reserve has long been a popular excursion destination with its dramatic nature and proximity to the sea. The reserve has several marked trails that you can follow. The Sörmlandsleden trail that runs through the area leads you out to and around Femörehuvud. Here, there are signs posted at the visible parts of Femörefortet. The Femörefortet Association also offers guided tours in the fort’s exciting corridors.
In summer, the fine rocky beaches on Western Femöre and Femörehuvud invite you to swim. If you wish to stay overnight in the area, accommodations are available in the lighthouse keeper’s house or the adjacent buildings. These same rocks might attract fishing at other times of the year. The reserve forms the southern outpost of Sörmland’s beautiful archipelago, which is a paradise for canoeists. Near Femörekanalen, there is an opportunity to rent a canoe and even join a guided tour. From the lighthouse, you have a stunning view over more open waters. From here, you can, among other things, see the Hävringe lighthouse to the southeast.
When hunger strikes, there are many inviting places where you can enjoy your packed lunch. If you wish to make a fire and grill, there are prepared barbecue areas waiting for you; no food tastes better than what you have carried yourself. At the fishing harbor, there are cabins to rent and also a pleasant restaurant with a sea view where you can eat and absorb the impressions from the day. At the old children’s colony, there is a café. From the handicap parking area at Southern Femöre, a gravel path leads down to the beautifully located barbecue area at the beach hut with fine views over the sea. Here, there is also an accessible toilet.
