Sweden’s largest constructed wetland lies only 3 km from the city center – a tranquil spot with eight ponds, two bird towers, and over 200 bird species. Ekeby wetland is a popular spot for migratory birds to rest, so during spring and autumn, you can discover a variety of unique bird species there. With its rich flora and diversity, the wetland is a place where many plants and animals thrive.
The wetland spans a full 40 hectares and is an excellent place for birdwatching, taking a walk, or inviting someone you like for a picnic. You can choose a short or long walking path, the local bus stops nearby, but it’s also great to cycle there on the Å-Path cycling and walking path that follows the river from just south of the city center all the way out to Lake Mälaren. If you arrive by boat or canoe, there is a pier where you can dock.
